Bilberry leaf is used for entirely different conditions, including diabetes.

    Ginseng has been used for improving overall health. It has also been used to strengthen the immune system and help fight off stress and disease. Asian ginseng (from Chinese and Korean sources) has been used to help unclear thinking and a variety of other health benefits.

  • Raspberry ketones

    According to manufacturers’ claims, raspberry ketones regulate the hormone adiponectin, which tends to be present at lower levels in people with obesity than those without it. Some studies show that increasing adiponectin levels may help treat insulin issues such as type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome by increasing insulin sensitivity.

  • Ginger root extract

    Uses of ginger root are plenty.  Some uses include pain relief from arthritis or muscle soreness, menstrual pain, upper respiratory tract infections, cough, and bronchitis. Ginger is also sometimes used for chest pain, low back pain, and stomach pain.

  • Soy protein

    Soy is the most controversial protein today.  Unlike the Asian culture, where people eat small amounts of whole non-GMO soybean products, western food processors separate the soybean into two golden commodities—protein and oil.  And there is nothing natural or safe about these products.  Soy foods contain anti-nutritional factors such as saponins, soyatoxin, phytates, protease inhibitors, oxalates, goitrogens and estrogens.   

    Do your research as soy protein has been linked to breast cancer, brain damage, Infant abnormalities, Thyroid disorders, Kidney stones, Immune system impairment, Severe, potentially fatal food allergies, Impaired fertility, Danger during pregnancy and nursing.

  • Soy protein isolate

    Soy protein is a protein that is isolated from soybean. It is made from soybean meal that has been dehulled and defatted. Dehulled and defatted soybeans are processed into three kinds of high protein commercial products : soy flour, concentrates, and isolates. Soy protein isolate has been used since 1959 in foods for its functional properties. Recently, soy protein popularity has increased due to its use in health food products, and many countries allow health claims for foods rich in soy protein.

  • Cane juice crystals

    Natural sugar cane is loaded with vitamins, minerals, enzymes, fibers, and phytonutrients that help the body digest the naturally occurring sugars.  Because of its name, cane sugar crystals seems like it would be a good choice.   But in reality, the only difference in the processes used to produce the wrongly called “evaporated cane juice” and white sugar is that white sugar goes through one processing step more than evaporated cane juice. That’s the only difference. Both types of sugar come from the same crop (unless it’s organic), and they are both about 99 percent sucrose, i.e. empty calories.

    Lots of recent hype surrounding coconut oil and powders. Coconut oil supporters claim that this exotic oil can boost metabolism, help you lose weight, and fight infections, and is likely to be a beneficial oil for prevention and treatment of some heart disease.

  • Dicalcium phosphate

    Dicalcium phosphate is commonly added to food as a dietary supplement for a source of calcium and phosphorus.

    Due to its fairly high concentration of calcium, it should be used with caution by breast feeding mothers and those suffering from lung disease and kidney stones.

    “Folic acid” and “folate” mean the same thing.

    Folate is found naturally in some foods and folic acid is a manmade form of folate.

    Since 1998, folic acid has been added to most enriched bread flours, cornmeal, pasta, rice, and other grain products in the U.S. and Canada.

    This was done to help prevent spina bifida and anencephaly, two birth defects that are caused in part by too little folate in a mother’s body around the time her baby is conceived.

  • Pyridoxine or pyrodioxine hydrochloride

    Pyridoxine is one of the compounds that can be called vitamin B6, along with pyridoxal and pyridoxamine.

  • Cynocobalamin

    Cyanocobalamin is a man-made form of vitamin B12 used to prevent and treat low blood levels of this vitamin. Most people get enough vitamin B12 from their diet. Vitamin B12 is important to maintain the health of your metabolism, blood cells, and nerves. Serious vitamin B12 deficiency may result in a low number of red blood cells (anemia, stomach problems, and permanent nerve damage.

  • Salt

    The average person in the U.S. consumes 3,500 milligrams of sodium a day. That’s equivalent to almost 9 grams of salt, or nearly 2 teaspoonfuls—way more than the 2,300 milligrams per day suggested by the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.  Although salt in moderation has not proven harmful an increasing body of evidence indicates that we should reduce the amount of salt in our diet. The American Medical Association (AMA), the American Heart Association (AHA), the American Dietetic Association (ADA), and the National Institutes of Health have begun a campaign to cut the salt intake of Americans by one-half.

  • Silica

    Silicon dioxide, or silica is actually made from fragmented granules of rock and mineral, so basically it is sand.

    Companies add silica to shakes to prevent them from clumping together during shipping and processing.

    Is it dangerous? Probably not. The mineral actually occurs naturally in all sorts of foods like vegetables and milk.

  • Natural flavors

    The definition of natural flavor under the Code of Federal Regulations is: “the essential oil, oleoresin, essence or extractive, protein hydrolysate, distillate, or any product of roasting, heating or enzymolysis, which contains the flavoring constituents derived from a spice, fruit or fruit juice, vegetable or vegetable juice, edible yeast, herb, bark, bud, root, leaf or similar plant material, meat, seafood, poultry, eggs, dairy products, or fermentation products thereof, whose significant function in food is flavoring rather than nutritional.”

  • Acesulfame Potassium

    Just Google the “dangers of Acesulfame Potassium” and your screen will light up!   What is it? It is a calorie-free sugar substitute, also known as Acesulfame K or Ace K.  In the U.S., it is used in such products as candies, baked goods, frozen desserts, and beverages.    Here’s the problem it’s highly highly controversial, especially as of late.  Reported side effects: Long term exposure to methylene chloride can cause nausea, headaches, mood problems, impairment of the liver and kidneys, problems with eyesight and possibly cancer.   Because of such recent controversy towards it’s safety and side effects it’s been banned at leading retailers,  the most recent being Whole Foods.

Any product endorsed by a celebrity will gain major attention, and Quick Trim is trying to capiltize on that with the Kardashian sisters. However, just because it’s being promoted by someone in the spotlight, doesn’t mean that the product lives up to the hype that is being thrown at it.

Quick Trim is made with soy protein, which is an immediate red flag based on our review criteria. Scientific research has shown negative issues with soy products, especially in supplements which is why we don’t recommend using such options. The main protein isolate is only 8 grams, which is substandard for optimum health, and that’s just the start.

Controversial Ingredients

Acesulfame PotassiumPerhaps one of the most controversial methods of sweetening products is this one, as it has been banned from major health food stores, including Whole Foods. This synthetic sweetener is not favorable for healthy living.

High Fat – Looking at the label, this shake offers 8 grams of protein, and 7 grams of sugar, with an overall calorie count of 110 per serving. This equates to about 25% of the caloric content of the shake is from fat.

Cyanocobalamin If your vitamin label says cyanocobalamin, it is a cheap, synthetic chemical made in the laboratory that is produced with cyanide. Low-end vitamin manufacturers use this to claim that their product “contains vitamin B-12.” They won’t tell you that this form of B-12 is bound to a toxic cyanide molecule that must then be detoxified from your body by your liver. Curiously, cyanide is a known poison.

Soy – In our opinion, soy is not an ideal protein source, as there are a lot of alternatives out there. Recent studies have linked soy proteins to thyroid issues, food allergies, danger for pregnant or nursing women, immune system problems, and much more.

Conclusion

Even with the celebrity endorsement of the Kardashian’s, this is not the best shake on the market. With less than ideal ingredients, questionable sugar content, and 25% fat calories, this may not be the choice to get you trim.
