Heavily marketed by Nature’s Sunshine, Smart Meal is a protein shake that utilizes several different protein isolates to deliver their proprietary blend. There are some positive and negative ingredients found here, with some that can bring in more than just muscle building and appetite suppression.
The protein blend found here is derived from soy isolate, golden chlorella, and pea protein. These all combine to deliver a strong blend of options, however, the soy aspect is the one that concerns us the most. Even though pea and chlorella protein deliver good options, the can become diminished due to the soy isolate.
Soy – In our opinion, soy is not an ideal protein source, as there are a lot of alternatives out there. Recent studies have linked soy proteins to thyroid issues, food allergies, danger for pregnant or nursing women, immune system problems, and much more.
Smart Meal contains a variety of key, isolated ingredients that can add a good amount of nutrients and sustain metabolic function. However, the presence of soy can diminish some of that benefit, which is why this shake is not the best option, although a strong contender none the less.
